| Systems:
Thermal Ventures and its affiliates and partnerships are owners or managers of a number of district energy systems. All of the systems operate as separate companies, as is generally required by local public utility commissions. All of these systems are in full compliance with regulations of the state and federal environmental protection agencies and operate with clear stacks. Its projects include: Akron Thermal, LP. Thermal Ventures, Inc. has operated this system under a lease with the City of Akron, Ohio, since 1995. More than $10 million has been invested to improve the operations of the Akron system, which includes two plants. One plant includes three boilers that produce 375,000 pounds of steam per hour and are equipped to operate on natural gas, tire derived fuel, wood waste, or wood chips. A second plant is a coal- and gas-fired backup plant capable of producing over 350,000 pounds of superheated steam per hour. Akron Thermal, LP includes 20 miles of distribution piping and serves more than 200 businesses and residences in and around downtown, including Childrens' Hospital, Akron General Hospital, Akron City Hospital (Summa) and The University of Akron. Akron Thermals heating service serves 17 million square-feet of building space. Akron Thermal Cooling Works, LLC. This recently installed system has a very small penetration at present and includes two plants. The first is a 4,200-ton chilled water and steam system that serves Canal Place Office Complex, SIA Adhesives, Plastic Lumber, and light industrial park. Volume is expected to increase as the park leases more of its space. A second plant serves a minor league baseball stadium, adjacent office buildings, and the new Civic Theatre. City officials are promoting redevelopment in this particular section of downtown, offering potential for higher customer load. Other Project Management Experience. Thermal Ventures, Inc. in Richmond, VA.
